G20 riots expose police brutality

Scenes like those witnessed here are all over the Internet, but they become "Old News" too soon & people move on without doing anything about it.

These cops ARE criminals! This criminal violence against our citizens can't be swept under the rug any longer. We all have to do something, to stop this from being, lost to time!

"Officer Bubbles"- From Bubbles to Bookings?

I just had to re-post this video.

I always wondered;

Did Officer (Roch Thériault) Bubbles, use any excessive force during the arrest of this violent criminal? Or was this violent criminal, blowing bubbles with excessive force?
Did Officer (Roch Thériault) Bubbles, lose much time from work, due to excessive bubble blowing causing him permanent or semi-permanent physical harm?
Will Officer (Roch Thériault) Bubbles, regain 100% of his full body strength & movement to the limbs &/or organs damaged during this violent act?

But most of all, I wonder;
Will we now have to register our bubble blowers with the police departments?
Will there be a "Grandfather Clause", for those already in possession of liquid detergents?
If I send flowers to Officer (Roch Thériault) Bubbles & wish him well, will I too be arrested if "Bubbles" has any allergies to said flowers?

Maybe Baby

Baby Damien George & mother had to stay at hospital another night. Leighann, tired & drained, arrived back here around 5:30 last night. She shed her gear, fell into the couch & then lit a smoke. I just looked at her, mortified!

All day, I went out of my way "Not To" lite up in the house.
I come from a family of smokers. My folks smoke(d). Some of my brothers & sisters smoke(d). Most all of my friends smoke(d). When I do, make any attempt at quitting, it's a big deal to me.

So we're starting over again this morning. One thing I am doing to assist with quelling the urge to smoke is, not drinking as much coffee. I've had, one, so far this morning. I'll be spacing them out too. I drink FAR too much coffee. But I need to be careful with this as well. One thing I do know is, trying to rid my body of too many contaminants, all at once, only spells disaster for any attempt at quitting the one I would like to be rid of first. So just a bit at a time will get me started down the right path.

I may not be walking this morning, from what I can see by the weather so far. It's pissin' down rain. Stanley's been out already. All of the animal's have been out this morning. Stanley usually wakes me up any time around 3:30, to just before my alarm setting of 4:30, wanting to go outside. Most times, I tell him to go lay down & wait. But not always. This morning, was as most times!

Roch Thériault is dead. Murdered in prison. For those of you who don't recognize the name, he was a cult leader from Quebec who moved here to our neck of the woods & set up shop in between Burnt River & Kinmount someplace. He went crazy with, the 'little bit' of power he had as an cult leader over his following of mostly women. One women ended up dead & another had her arm amputated. And then Roch went off to prison for life. Now, this appears to be literal!

I would think of him often from time to time. His group of women would go door to door here in Fenelon Falls, selling vegetables. I would make some purchases whenever they showed up. I liked the tie-dyed dresses & hippie garb they were always wearing. Made me think of things like, "Woodstock" & "Peace - Not War" kinda stuff. Little did I or many others up here know, the horror these women were being put through back then. And I remember trying to make small talk with these girls, while getting out the little bit of money they asked for their fresh vegetables. So yeah. I would think of this bastard from time to time!

That Fifth Estate documentary has drummed up a lot of, re-newed interest, in the criminal police brutality that occurred back in June 2010. I've been looking at various news articles this morning & this criminal act of violence has made it's way, back into the news limelight.

The police, in an effort to discredit the situation, displayed a bunch of seized articles for the public to scrutinize. They labeled everything on display as, "weapons seized". Bicycle helmets. Sun &/or Safety glasses. Some poor Joe's cane, in an effort to justify their beating down civilians with, Rubber Bullets, Weighted Batons, Pepper Spray & full Tactical Riot Gear. These bastards even admitted to include a cross-bow in that collection, that had nothing to do with the protesters. What else was "accidentally" included. Knifes from their own kitchens?

I think, every single one of these criminals, should be subjected to the same humiliations & beatings they inflicted onto the demonstrators. After they all lose their jobs, their pensions, their benefits packages & then are sentenced to time in prison. Including the criminal, Stephen Harper!

I hate using this word & it has shown up a couple of times in my Blog now but, F*@K! Wake up people! The police are not here to "Serve & Protect" the public, the civilian. you & I. They are just people, just like you & I, but who are accepting that payment of "30 pieces of silver" to serve & protect the interests of those who want to take away all of our rights. To turn us all into subdued sheep & followers. They are all, individual Roch Thériaults & WORSE!

And the hard times, they haven't even happened yet! You just wait & see how "friendly" your neighborhood cop becomes, when times start getting difficult. These young men & women are accepted at an early age, so that they can be brain-washed into their new positions of power, BEFORE any of their character defaults can become known. This is why they have the recruitment age & that special phsyc-evaluation testing bullshit. Those in power, know who they want for this job. So they do their testing on these young people & select the ones who meet that profile, before their old enough to have displayed the faults most others would have over time. And then they, not we, pin a badge on them & give them the authority to use firearms. All while removing our rights, to even defend our own life's. And then give authority to each other, to use those same weapons against us!

But nothing will come of this. Not, enough of us, will stand together to bring these crooked cops, thier crooked lawyers, the crooked judges who side with them & the crooked politicians who allowed it to go so far, to justice. And these criminals KNOW this!

Our whole justice system is a mess. They say that justice is blind. But anyone & everyone of us, who has had to face our current judicial system KNOWS, our justice system can see $ perfectly fine indeed! In justice, you get what you pay for. We ALL know this. But we tolerate it none the less & just hope that, it never happens to us. Can you imagine? Honest hard working citizens hoping that "Justice", never happens to them! What a damn mess!

G8 & G20 Summits

I'm sitting here this morning, awaiting the daughters return home from hospital & I'm watching The Fifth Estates documentary "You Should Have Stayed Home". This aired last night during Fifth Estates regular programing time schedule, but circumstance & events prevented me from watching.

During the G20 protests back in June of 2010, I watched in horror as our governments police forces, and that's exactly who they were at that time, began to encourage vandalism & chaos, and then allowed it to continue & get out of control amongst a few, so that they (the police) could justify moving in to beat up innocent people.

I wrote into an Internet group I belong to @ www.survivalistssite.com & described what it was that I was witnessing that day, June 26th. 2010. The open police brutality against peaceful protesters, the elderly, anyone who may have been caught outside at that time when the police rushed in to justifiably commit criminal acts against Innocent people. The link to my post from back then is in the title of today's post.

I thought I could let this go. All of the shit going on in the middle east. Hillary Clintons open hypocrisies. Our own government's open hypocrisies & their attempts & succession at removing ALL of our rights as both citizens & humans. But I just can't do it!

Seeing this on the Fifth Estate, has just re-opened an old wound. Every one of those police officers who marched down & then struck out at those protesters, are criminals! Every fuckin' one of them! But NOT JUST them!

Every one of their commanding officers from each unit, the chief of police & right up to Stephen Harper himself, are all criminals & must be brought to justice! But like the chief of police said during the Fifth Estate documentary, "It's for a judge to decide". So we all know where this will go!

And this is precisely why, I shouldn't "give-up" writing about these things. I've had to pay for everything I've ever done, guilty or innocent. These are real criminals out there. And they'll continue to steal our rights from us, if we continue to do nothing to stop them! None of this shit might affect you, directly, while you sit at your computer at home. But this doesn't mean that they can not, or will not, break into your home & abuse you & your rights, if that's what they WANT to do.

Our children's futures are at stake here now. I don't want my kids & grand kids to be beat up by the cops. To not have any rights & to grow up in the type of country that our veterans fought & died to prevent from being established. But that's where we are, right now. And it's just going to get worse. And far too many people, are far too comfortable with their diversions to do anything about it!

I don't want to be one of them!

Baby On Board

Yesterday morning was the birthday for Damien George. He arrived without incident & a couple weeks early, at 8:15 in the morning. New mommy & son are both fine. And Leighann's leaving here shortly to go bring them home from the hospital.

My morning has been spent preparing our spare bedroom for them. This spare room has been my battery storage area all winter, just because I didn't want to re-locate these heavy batteries any place else until I had finished with them, building the cables & other extras required for our solar panel set-up. They're moved now though. The crib is set-up properly & there's lots of room for mommy & baby to get around safely.

I've even stopped smoking in the house. In this section of it anyways. From now on, if Leigh or I or any other family member wants a smoke, it has to be had outside or in the front apartment. Friends & others will have to step outside. I'm hoping this will lead up to another "Quit" period for me. I've quit, successfully, several times before. For several months at a time. But everyone else kept smoking around me & I would, soon enough or eventually, give in to temptation. But I am ready again. I can feel it coming!

Exercising has been a long & slow progress. I'm still at the stretching stage in mornings & then walking downtown a few times a week. The best time for walking, is around 7 a.m. The cold air & wind in the mornings feels so good. I think I'm almost going to miss it when the warmer weather gets here. Stanley's benefiting from this too!

So that's the news from up here. We've got more new snow & the cars warming up now. And I'm getting ready to do another walk!

Canning Tomatoes

My homemade "jar-keeper-uppers"
made from clothes hangers,
to keeper upper the jars off the
bottom of the pot used for sterilizing.

The stove where I conduct these
experiments with mutated foods.

Four jars of canned tomatoes.
Will they be eatable in 6 months?
Were they to begin with?

I was up until well past 9 p.m. last night. It's not too unusual for me to be awake later than that. And if I am, than it's while I'm horizontal at least & watching TV in bed or writing in one of my many "Notebooks of Big Ideas".

Lately, I've taken to drawing my blueprints while in bed. My nightstand looks like a drafting table & large sheets of 1/4" grid-paper litter the floor around me. This pleases the kitten to no end. He-she-it, is convinced there is something alive & moving beneath them. I have to gather the sheets of paper up & store them away before falling asleep, or I'll be up all hours listening to the constant rustle of he-she-it attacking imaginary whatever's, all night long.

While Leighann is staying with her girlfriend & helping her around the house, so to prepare for the funeral & wake afterwards, this girlfriends brother dropped a couple of boxes of onions & tomatoes off there. The vegetables were in, very rough looking condition. The tomatoes had scars & scabs all over them & the onions weren't any better looking. I've no idea, what-so-ever, as to Why this guy brought them to her. But Leighann, thought I would want them for the compost, at least. So she delivered the 2 boxes to me Wednesday morning.

After some quick inspections, I discovered that not all of these vegetables were destined for the compost bin. The reason they wouldn't sell at the market where the brother of Leigh's girlfriend works, was quite obvious. The tomatoes were TOO scared up & the onions did have a lot of bruising. People always pass these over for the better looking vegetables when having to pay top dollar. Which is what it would be at this time of the year. But not ALL of them needed to be composted. That would be a waste!

So I set the boxes side for that day. Our kitchen was still a mess. The daughters baby shower was on Sunday. Monday was for recouping. And then Leighann's good friend, Jerry, passed away in his sleep, early Tuesday morning. So the kitchen was, still, un-attended to when the vegetables did arrive. I would spend the day cleaning up first. Get to the vegetables second.

I want to thank all of the women who provided our daughter with such nice gifts & thoughts toward her during this, Baby Shower. I know she was very grateful & delighted to be recognized this way. I've never attended one of these events before & I wouldn't have been very good company at this one. I do still have a "bit of" a problem with her thinking she will be a good mommy, when she's not even done being a kid yet.

But I have stopped, 'voicing' that opinion to her. Sometimes, it's as though my mouth has a mind of it's own. Spewing out verbal diarrhea like my mind was brain-washed in ex-lax. So I will 'only' write about it here. Privately. For all the world to read.
Oh crap!

But, just so that the world, does know. I love my kid to pieces & I will love my grand-baby as much & more!

Now back to Ugly vegetables.

I have failed in my quest to become the worlds leading photographer, of bowled fruits & boxed vegetables, not suitable to the table. Even though the boxes of vegetables delivered to my kitchen on Wednesday morning, did have a few great candidates for pictures with captions such as; "You're going to eat it?" & "What the Hell is that?" or, my favorite, "Are you INSANE?" (I can never hear that often enough), I did forget to take any pictures of them.

I did however, take some video of the sterilizing of the canning jars & lids procedure.

Now, ALL of this is new to me, don't forget. So, with the good Lords, Stephen Harpers (that Goof but I love his hat!), Obamas & my own Dr. Allins, combined good willing, hopefully, I will be around at the end of this seasons garden harvest, to capture on film (digitally speaking), pictures & video of my own ugly vegetables grown out back & not suitable for the human pallet but prepared canned & eaten anyhow & put onto my Blog!

Here's some camera-phone photo's;

FREEKIN' Blogger! Now I have to learn how to do this all over again!

Anyways. The pictures are up top.

Okay. Now that I'm pissed because I don't know how to work my Blog any more & my pictures are up top instead of down here, where I wanted them & I can't add captions to them & everything I'm typing is central to the page instead of at the right margin & now my coffee's gone cold,

I sliced up the onions & froze ém!

My World Condition

I received an e-mail from my elder brother this morning, with a link to a website which has a "Q & A" conversation transcribed for public viewing.

The website is called "Conversations With Casey". It pictures the upper torso section of an Average Joe (Casey I presume) looking guy wearing glasses while holding a glass of beer in one hand & a cigar in the other. Innocent enough (I will assume).

Casey answered a lot of, "carefully designed questions". And that's just GOOD journalism!
But I was amazed & surprised at how, "relative" the Q & A's were, to my own thoughts about what's happening today!

Amazed, because I am not educated well enough, that there should be any similarities there &
Surprised because, MORE people are not thinking this way too!

Hell. If I can do the math with my level of education, then every Dummy on the planet should be leap-frogging past me!

But I guess, too many of us, choose to ignore the inevitable. I just read about this recently too. Now I wish I had made note about it, so that I could go back & quote that as well. But it has to do with the "Human Condition".

The "Human Condition", which is each persons own environment of what IS going on in their mind, combined & compared to what is actually happening around them, can actually PREVENT the person from accepting the truth about certain things in reality. They will refuse to see it, or accept it, because it doesn't fit with what they WANT, or expect to happen.

Well I didn't pay any attention at all to Tunisia's battle for equality & a better way of life. When I did read about this revolution, it was with a closed mind. Most likely, I chalked it up to, just another revolt within a country I know little about. In a place, far, far away. People I do not know & a way of life *I've never had to live* (I will be remarking about this soon).

Then Egypt's revolution came to the fore-front of the world news. And as I read about what was going on there, all of the "other shit" I had read about in the past & even a documentary I had just watched a while before, about Egypt's "Garbage People". They are considered the lowest class of citizens who do just that, collect the garbage from the rest of the class's of Egypt's citizen's, suddenly, opened my mind to their condition. And then it all Snowballed from there into a big, shitty looking mess. And I kept looking at my Atlas & finding out which other countries were around there & wanting to know what was happening with them.

My World Condition

I'm glad this is all going down the way it is & will, now, at this stage of my life. If the shit was to hit the fan this way, back when I was all piss & vinegar, I wouldn't have made it. I would have done something stupid, on purpose.

It sickens me that we've done this. That our kind, mankind, has chose to shit where we eat. That our governments would rather seduce us with diversions than the truth, all so that they won't lose elections & positions of power. And especially that we (s)elect them to do just this. Because if they didn't, we would have to accept the God damned truth & give up those diversions!

Well I for one, HOPE that it happens sooner, than later!

I know that people are going to suffer. There will be much suffering & innocence will be the first to bear the brunt of this. They always are.

Casey talks about the disguise of civilization. How underneath, we are all volatile & ready to explode. Well of course this is true. We are Mankind. And when Mob-Rule takes over, we will crush & destroy anything in our path preventing us from getting what we are after. That's our nature!

And, if I was a young man again, I would be right in there trying to get what "I" wanted out of this shit-mess too!

Unfortunately, EVERYBODY in those mobs, are going to trample over EVERYONE else in their path & then leave with EVERYTHING they "already have". Thinking that they have made a difference. What a sham(e)!

As long as mankind lives in a world where Economics is the "common bond" that is uniting countries, peoples & class of citizens, we will NEVER achieve equality. There will ALWAYS be someone with more & someone with less. Someone who will do anything to get more & then someone else who will do anything to take it away from them!

Even though I believe in & promote the "Zeitgeist Movement", I fuckin' well know that it will not happen during my lifetime, or my children's lifetimes. And maybe not for centuries. That we will continue to kill each other. Crush & destroy one another. For a fucking dollar!

The weather is starting to get a bit better day by day & pretty soon I will be able to spend more time at the acreage.
That's where I belong.

In my "World Condition". That place in my mind where I draw the line in between what is real & what is only what I expect it to be.

I'm still surrounded by a forest with trees for as far as the eye can see. There are Bear, Moose, Deer, Beaver, Wolf, Coyote, Ermine, Rabbit & now a Cougar.

I have a garden that's designed by nature to keep on being a garden. Producing foods because it wants to. Naturally.

Hey! Wait a minute. That's not all in my mind. I have that already!

So all the rest of the world can go straight to Hell like it's doing anyways, without my involvement. Spring is coming & I've got work to do.

Busy. Busy. Busy!

P.S.
I enjoyed reading Casey's website & went on to read other postings by him. This
website is now included in my NEWS page!
Thanks Mike!

Cougar Tracks

The video of the tracks we found outside of my tent. I checked & then re-checked several times. I even terrorized my poor kitten here at home, holding it upside down below a lamp while I looked over it's paws for similarities. This was a Cougar!

Off To The Rodeo

One of Leighann's best friends passed away yesterday morning. Good old Jerry Grieves. I didn't get to know Jerry all that well. But he was an ex boyfriend of Leighann's & she maintained a constant friendship with he & his new girlfriend. So Leighann has gone to stay with her now until the funeral.

Even though I didn't get to know Jerry well, I do have a fond memory of this guy. He & I worked together at one of the local furniture factories up here during the early 1980's. We were making Swedish style knock-down furniture, which was commonly sold under the IKEA brand name. Being new to the factory, I was given the job of chipping down foam from huge compressed blocks, into suitably sized pieces for the cushions. Jerry was quite often sent into that department to assist with this process.

It was during one of those work days, over the ear piercing thunder coming from that noisy foam chipping machine, that Jerry taught me the lyrics of an old workplace classic song which was probably sung out loud in noisy work places all over North America. "Off To The Rodeo"!

"...and he's off to the Rodeooooo. Albany left & Alabama right. Come on you fuckin dummy, get your two-step right. Get off the stage, you God damn goof, well don't you knowwwwww? You piss me off. You fuckin' jerk. You get on my nerves!"

I can't remember all of the words now. This was 30 years ago & we were singing that stupid song at the tops of our lungs while trying to drown out the ever present noise from that foam room. But that's my memory of this guy. He was funny!
According to his girlfriend, Jerry was awake at 2 a.m., uncomfortable, but not wanting to go back to hospital Then he fell asleep & never woke up.

So long, Jerry. You were one of the good guy's!

Saudi Arabia girl is fine & was in Florida when last I heard sometime Monday. I never did hear back from her. But there was a posting on her FB page.

Wilderness Return guy & myself, spent the day out at the acreage on Sunday & it was awesome. And, we have a Puma at our 100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness!

The big cat left it's tracks only 3 or 4 feet from the front of my tent as it walked for about 40 yards from the south bush, across our camp clearing heading to the north. There, it came upon some Rabbit tracks, so it made a 90 degree turn at those tracks & followed them off eastwards somewhere.

I was so excited to have seen these. Big cats have been the topic up here of late, with several sightings in the Fenelon Falls & Bobcaygeon areas. It would seem to me now, that our area is returning to the wilderness from which it came with multiple sightings of these big cats, Moose & even Elk now making their way down here. I couldn't be more pleased!

Two years ago, I rented some acreage about 5 kilometers north of where our 100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness is now & camped out back into that remote forest for almost 7 months. It was during an evening in September of that time, that I heard some animal calling, from deep into the interior of that bush.

This "calling" went on for about 5 minutes it seemed like & it was a noise unlike ANY I had ever heard coming from the wilderness in this part of Ontario before. And I've had many nights under the stars & besides camp fires, in my past!

The same noise came the night after the first time I heard it. But for much shorter a time then the previous night. Maybe only for a minute or two. I was so intrigued by it. I felt so, honoured to have heard this, far off, foreign & lonely cry. But, I had no idea at all as to what it could have been. Back then.

Now. Since, I've discovered this sound again & I now know that, what I was listening in on, was a female Cougar in heat. And I had the honour of hearing this because, I was sitting at a campfire in the remote wilderness when it occurred. Not sitting on a couch watching TV. I love my country!

But then my elder sister sent me an e-mail yesterday, with that photo you see up top. It's of some guy holding up a Rattler Snake that must be at least 8 foot long. The photo was taken outside of a farm area in Wiarton Ontario.

I know how far away Wiarton is from our 100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness. I wrote about that drive when I first started this Blog. My younger sister & her family live in Paisley Ontario. About 30 miles south of Wiarton!

But I've also had experience with these Rattle Snakes here, innocently trying to save one from being run over on Shuttleworth Drive in Burnt River, late one night.

A friend & I use to walk this roadway every night as a form of exercise. I spotted the snake & decided to pick it up to move it out of harms way. I did so by grabbing it from behind the head & then picking up it's tail. As I did so, the snake rattled in the palm of my hand holding it's tail end.

At first, I didn't immediately recognize what was happening. The rattle going on in my palm was silent, but the movement was almost best described as, sonic. It shook so fast in my cupped hand, that Sonic is the only way I can describe this movement. By the second & third rattles, I HAD realized my mistake & the snake was now free-falling back towards the roadway!

My Friend ran to get a flashlight because all we had were our Bic lighters, while I stayed with this creature so to prevent it's escape. I wanted a picture of it & all I had with me was my camera-phone. No flash. When my friend returned, I took 2 or 3 photos. The pictures turned out a bit grainy & fuzzy, but I do still have them on that phone, whichever drawer it is in now. When I do come across that phone again, I will charge it up & retrieve those pics for here!

I looked up this "Massasauga Rattle Snake" in one of my many Outdoors books when I returned home from that walk & discovered then, that the snake which I had found that night, was in what is known as it's "Juvenile" stage of growth. And that this was the reason or there being no noise at all coming from it's tail as it rattled. That even though this snake was only around 14" to 16" long & in this state of it's growth, it was still, just as venomous as a fully mature Rattle Snake!

But I had NO idea that these Rattlers were growing to these lengths in Ontario. It would be impossible to ward off a strike from a snake of this size!

Click the title of today's post to go over to the "Ontario Puma" official website & listen to what I heard for 2 nights in a row!

In Lies We Trust Part 3 of 16

Part 3 of "In Lies We Trust"

Still no news from the girl in Saudi Arabia. I sent my son an e-mail, asking if he had heard anything from his 1/2 sister over there. But I've not heard back from him yet either!

My sister & her family from Paisley, were in an automobile accident last night while on their way here. It was nothing major & no one was hurt. The other driver was charged with careless driving. But since they were closer to home than here, they returned home to settle the nerves & will be heading back this way, this morning some time.

My asshole buddy hasn't got back to me to confirm his inclusion with us, on our hike into the bush this morning to go visit the acreage. Past experience tells me that, this means he will not be available. This also means, "No Fresh Fish For Dinner" Arrgh!

Freekin', Family-Friends & Fish, man! They'll do it to ya every time!  I love it! This makes life interesting!

I can't wait to get out to the acreage! Wilderness Return guy & I will have a great hike none the less. It's suppose to go down to -15 C. out there today. That makes for excellent hiking weather. I'm charging the camera-phone now & re-charging the batteries for our video camera. All though we've taken a few videos of some goings-ons out at the acreage with our camera-phones before in the past, we've never had "true" video capabilities out there yet. So this will be nice!

I'm expecting Wilderness Return guy to show up here in about 2 hours. It's 6 a.m. now. & the kettles on again for my 3rd. cup of coffee. Still loving these early a.m. starts to my days as well!

There's a new plan for those early a.m.'s as well. Beginning tomorrow. Monday the 21st. of February, 2011. I will begin doing a few more exercises. Other than just reading e-mails, the news & then typing into my Blog!

There was a time when, I would have done 2500 push-ups before breakfast....That's not a "Typo" or an error in any way. I didn't, dillusionally add the 2 in front of the 5 & then accidentally double-tap the 0 key. Even though it would be a real task for me to do just 5 push-ups this morning!

I was in my 30's back then...I've no, grand illusions of even attempting to get, back to that level of fitness. It would be impossible with present health conditions, age & my constant diet of coffee & cigarettes!

But I do, have to, get some sort of health back! Yesterday, I decided to soak in the tub. My arm & shoulder have been killing me. And for no reason.
There was a time when, I would run the bath water an inch from the top of the tub & climb in without spilling a drop.
Now, I put ONLY an inch of water into the tub & when I climb in, it's spilling all over the damn place!
I laid there in my tub, with the remainder of that inch of water up around my neck, looking at my beer belly. I've never had a beer belly before. I've not even drank a beer in some 3 years now!

So that bath was the deciding factor. I've got about 6 to 8 weeks before spring planting begins & then, after that, I have a long, hot summer of work ahead of me!

Cutting down trees to clear for paths & building sites. Gathering all of the stone to be used for various building projects & then moving all of this material into one, centralized location for building our "Low-Impact Woodland Home". Bed after bed of vegetables. Both here at home & out on the acreage. And then, the amount of work that still needs to be done here, at our house in town!

Yeah. So I am and I am not, looking forward to this. I know the benefits of what I am about to attempt to achieve in this 6 to 8 week period. But I also know the commitment & hard work it requires to achieve this, level of fitness & health.

It wont be anything near that which I use to have in my 30's. But it will sure as Hell be a lot better than that which I DON'T have now!

Bahrain Protestors Massacred

As Egypt's tyranny was being ended, I said to Leighann, It can't stop there...I then told her, other North African countries would follow suit & even expressed concern for Saudi Arabia, because my ex-wife's step daughter is over there now, working in a nursing position somewhere.

And the news out of there this morning confirms my concerns. Bahrainian protesters are being mowed down in the streets by automatic gun fire from army &/or police & the bodies are being hauled away by refrigerated trucks with Saudi licence plates.

So I went right over to the FB (Face Book) web page & looked up this girl. I don't know her at all. Of the past 15 years or so, that she has been a part of my ex-wife's new family, we've only met a handful of times. But for some reason, she's listed amongst the few friends I do have on FB!

I did this, because I wanted to see when her last post on that site was made. Being on my list of Friends, whenever she did post anything, it would show up in my news link for that site & I would be able to read it if I so wished. Being as I hardly knew this girl at all, I didn't pay much attention to her posts.

But I was concerned & curious now. I wanted to know if the Internet for that area has been interrupted at all, like it had been for everywhere else the protests had taken place. And I wanted to know if this girl was okay!

Her last posting was made on the 15th. of this month. To me, that seems like a long time between FB postings for a young woman who's ONLY method of staying in touch with her Waterloo based family & friends, is the computer!

So I sent her an e-mail & am awaiting a return message. In my message, I asked if she has heard or seen anything. And if she felt safe where she is.

It's 1:30 p.m. here now. So that means 9:30 wherever she is. And I hope all is well.

Clicking the banner title will take you to this story from the Independent.co.uk web site.

Still Yearning!

I arranged all of our vegetable seed packages into groupings the other day when we bought them. There are now 4 separate groups. One for planting directly into the ground as soon as it's workable. One for beginning indoors at 6 - 8 weeks before the estimated outdoor planting period. The third at 4 - 6 weeks before & then the last at 2 -3 weeks or less.

And then I took our paper calendar off the kitchen wall, to compare these dates & to mark them off in the boxes provided for each day of each month. I also wrote the dates onto the seed packages themselves. In case they get mixed up during the next SIX to EIGHT WEEKS I still HAVE TO wait!

I was almost, depressed! This little bit of extra sunlight hours & the past couple days of warm temperatures, were so misleading to me. When we bought the seeds, I had this sense of urgency about them. Like, we were going to have to have them planted or sprouting within the next few days. Or sooner!

Our broom & dustpan were ready at the foot of the ladder stairs leading to our loft area grow room. I would clean it up & sort it all out for this season. A new plug-end for our lighting system, had to be purchased. A.S.A.P. All though we could only afford a couple bags of soil, now, it would be enough to start the few seeds required to be started this early & then more soil would be purchased when possible & as needed.

Last night, I figured I should re-check what our Farmers Almanac says. More disapointment! That book says cooler than usual temperatures for this spring. I may not be able to put any seedlings &/or plants outdoors as soon as I would like.

It's just that I'm so anxious to get started I think. I even, for the past couple of day's, ate an ALL vegetable diet of salad & pastas for my primary meals. In between countless coffees & cigarettes. I need a lot of work!

So it's off to the acreage tomorrow! Leighann is having the daughters Baby Shower here. My sister & her family from Paisley, are arriving this afternoon to stay the night. My brother-in-law & nephew will be joining Wilderness Return guy, myself & my buddy & his boy & we are all hiking out into the bush to go view the property & check on my camp there.

Hopefully, this will also involve a pan fry fish dinner over an open fire & a few beers for those who enjoy that beverage. My buddy has his own stocked Trout Pond right outside of his kitchen window! My sister & her husband use to own their own brewery in Kitchener, years ago. But as it goes right now, any beer enjoyed, will have to be purchased from the In & Out Store & then packed in by those wanting it!

In Lies We Trust Part 2 of 16

Part 2 of "In Lies We Trust".

I made the mistake yesterday, of thinking this video had something to do with Dr. Mercola. It does not. He just used some clips from it to sell his stuff.

It's a Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz, the guy narrating, who's responsible for this video & I'm posting a link to his website right here:  http://web.mac.com/len15/healthyworld_media/Blog/Entries/2007/9/4_In_Lies_We_Trust%3A_The_CIA%2C_Hollywood_%26_Bioterrorism.html

Hillary Clinton interrupted by protester heckler 15.02.2011

This was just too rich. I had to post it A.S.A.P.

Below, is a copy of the story from Press TV at :  http://www.presstv.ir/usdetail/165755.html

So while Hillary's bashing Egypt & Tunisia governments for their handling of protesters, she stands by & continues this speech, without losing a beat as a silent protester is wrestled & assaulted by her own police staff!

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University on Wednesday Feb. 16, condemning governments that arrest protester's and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. justiceonline.org

In an interview with Press TVs U.S. Desk, McGovern said, "I had no idea that standing in an audience would get me attacked, brutalized, put in jail and rather seriously hurt".

The former CIA analyst stated that in silence he wanted to be "witness to the fact that many Americans are very much opposed to these policies of permanent war".

McGovern said this type of action "should not be tolerated no matter where it is". McGovern had to be taken to the hospital after receiving injuries.

McGovern told OpEdNews what he had been protesting by standing silently with his back turned:

"When people die because we have hypocrites at the top of our government, that compels me to make a statement in whatever way I can. It was not the theme of her speech that I was protesting." antiwar.com

McGovern remained silent until just before he was pulled through the auditorium doors; then, bloodied, bruised & arrested, he screamed, "This is America?" alternet.org
FACTS & FIGURES

In Lies We Trust Part 1 of 16

In my e-mails this morning & just like every morning, was another automated response message from Dr. Mercola. I don't condone or endorse this guy at all. In fact. I think he's a quack! If I did follow everything he says I should, I wouldn't do very much, go very far or eat hardly anything. All while paying incredibly high prices for the things he sells, that are safe for me to have!

But I do like checking through his website for these little gems!

Here's the first part of 16 short video's. It's a 2-1/2 hour long documentary about the insanity involved with our pharmaceutical companies, the medical industry & the scientific community. And how they work together with the worlds governing forces to perform their experiments on all of us.

I grew up believing that there was valid drug testing going on. That sometimes, these tests had to be performed on animals, in the best interest of mankind. And sometimes, after all of this animal testing had reached it's desired goal(s), these  tests would move onto human drug testing. Before these drugs were introduced to the medical industry. I did so, because that's what I was told to believe!

So this 2-1/2 hour long video is coming here in 16 parts. And theres good reason for that. Not too many people want to take that long to watch this type of documentary. Some people, don't even want to watch the entire video in parts, at all. As is evident by the amount of times this has been viewed on YouTube. If you go to this site to watch all of the series at once, the first you'll notice is that part 1 was viewed 167,00 times. And then part 2, viewed 60,000 times. Part 3, 59,000 times. Part 4 at 57,000 times & so on.

But I enjoy this kind of stuff. I think it's important. Historian's of the future will be looking back at this stuff & asking themselves; "Why didn't they pay more attention?...the truth was out there..." That is...if there are any historian's in the future!

Rocket Stove Beginnings

I've been working on my Rocket Stove. That is to say, I was working on my Rocket Stove. The project, as I mentioned earlier, has been back-shelved for a while until Leighann is through with having the daughters baby shower event on the 20th. After which time, I will bring all of those pieces back out of storage & I'll get back to work on it!

The whole idea was to video everything being done. Using my cheapie video camera & this computer. I call it a "cheapie video camera", in a good way. It was my Christmas gift from Leighann. I'm grateful for it!

My computer does have some video editing software in it. Somewhere. These software products, look great. I think I may have even opened one of them before. Accidentally. But I'm just not the type of guy who does a great deal of video editing. Or even video making. So, I don't think it's going to get used much, anytime soon. As evident by any videos you may choose to watch, which were made by yours truly!

I do promise though. My video making abilities, will improve with time!

Above is a short video which shows a couple of smaller sized, electric water heaters, Leighann's son Scott had given to him for a dump run. Since he knew I was stripping another old used water heater, in my kitchen, to be used for my Rocket Stove Project, he asked me if  could us these two as well.

This video also shows a few of the windows  received from Kijiji's "Free Stuff" advertising. They're snow covered, but in good condition. These items will become part of our "Low-Impact Forest Home", out on the "100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness" this year. Since they are, Very Big Windows, they may very well become a part of the greenhouse I intend to build, attached to this home.

Last of all, this video shows the mirrored glass panels I intend to use for my solar panel projects, stored outside of the house & leaning up against the living area wall there. Another panel is broke. I really could use a shop here!

Does Capitalism work?

This is a short video with Micheal Parenti speaking about Capitalism & what his views about it are. I thought it was worthy of watching.

Our entire viewpoint about Capitalism has changed. It's evolved into something entirely different than what it was meant to be. Meant to do. Now it's just as corrupt as everything else having to do with a Financial Based Economy. And we've done this to ourselves. We've allowed this to happen, with grand illusions of,  the"American Dream". Everyone, everywhere, it doesn't matter which country you're in any more, want's that BIG house & BIG car & BIG bank account.

And we've been led by our noses, by BIG corporation & BIG privately funded government's. All the time while they're laughing thier asses off at us, for falling for thier "Get Rich Quick" schemes to begin with!

There's no such thing as an "American Dream"! It's all nonsense! Our planet & it's inhabitants, you & I, US, we are all being killed off & destroyed. Just so that 4% of the worlds population who now own 95% of it's wealth, will continue to do so in the future. Everything else & anyone else that survives after this place is such a shithole, that nothing else, "can survive" on it, unless they have the equipment required for doing so, is going to have to continue paying that 4% for the privalige. Through things like "Patents". On everything from seeds to water & whatever else we will be needing. To suvive. If you can't afford to pay for thier greed, you won't have the right to breath, or eat, or educate your children!

This isn't an illusion. I'm not predicting anything, that anyone else can't already see for themselves!

This world is in BIG trouble! Our (the worlds) exponential growth rate combined with our financial economic way of life, is like a burning fuse in a keg of black powder. And the American's privately owned banking system government, is racing down that fuse like a 15 second per inch burn time in a 1/2" long fuse.

Something horrible, is about to happen when it blows!
Cripes. You think it was bad when Bush blew up the World Trade Center? Wait till you see what's coming our way next!

"MAN"...that Stehen Harper is such a goof!

False Weather Yearnings

I've got some BIG plans again. With the temperatures going into the +6 to +8 degrees C range for the next couple of days, I can feel that sense of urgency coming over me once more!

Each night, before bed & usually while I'm in it, I try to make a list of "Things To Do" that I can take care of the next morning & day. Lately, it's been about gardening. But I do have a few projects on the go as well.

My Rocket Stove pieces are all out on the back deck, awaiting me to go out there & finish the drilling, cutting & welding. But because I've received a little bit of free firewood this past week, my motivation has weakened & I've back-shelved the idea. Sort of, that is.

Ever since the funeral of my old asshole buddy's mother, there's been a, re-emergence of, my asshole buddy into my daily life. And since he is a (somewhat) better qualified welder than myself (he really does have a lot more experience at this), I've been waiting to take these pieces to his place for the final welds. And he has cutting torches & full tanks. Something I do not have!

And then there's my "Aluminium Can Solar Space Heating Panel" project/experiment!

Last spring, my neighbour was getting rid of about 5 or 6 of these mirrored glass closet door panels he had brought home from another job someplace, to store for his next dump run. Each one is 92" tall by 28" wide at 1/4" thick (or there abouts). And he asked me if I had any use for them.

Well since I belong to the "Society For Creative Misuse" (thanks Mr. Cheap) & I am, literally, a "Junk Junkie", I HAD TO take them!
At first, I said no. But that ate at me so bad, for so long, I think I was crying while I was removing them from the trailer in which he had just loaded them the day after I told him I didn't need them!
That freekin' sense of urgency man. And with stupid shit. Like glass panels. It's not as though it's a valuable, precious metal which can be traded in for $. It's just glass. But I HAD TO, have them!

Well over the summer & this winter, there's about 3 or, maybe 4 of those panels left. Twice now, I've hit them while throwing sticks for Stanley. And Leighann has done the same, once. And what a mess they leave as they shatter into tiny little jig-saw shaped pieces all over the place!

I have, "began to clean" the mirrored backing off two of them. The first time was out back, last summer. This was AFTER I had broke two of them already, while playing with the dog.
I placed a couple of old 1 x 6 planks across two of my, aluminium 3-step ladder-stools, I used for drywalling &/or carpentry work & then laid the panel out on these for stripping off the mirrored finish. This panel then became Leighanns, perfect target, for Stanley's stick one afternoon.
The 2nd. panel is now leaning up against a wall in the front apartment of this house. I have "most of" the mirrored finish removed. But we were expecting company for dinner one night, back whenever. And since I was stripping the damn thing on the dining table, IN our KITCHEN, I had to remove it.
So up against a wall it went. Three parts redneck & one part asshole!

But now the weathers going to be a bit warmer the next couple of day's. This house is going to have a few guest's on the 20th. for the daughter's baby shower. I'll be heading up to the acreage that day. Perfect timing!

I think, as far as plans go now anyways, I won't be alone. My asshole buddy & his son & perhaps, the "Wilderness Return" guy from Bowmanville, might be, joining me for the hike in. I'm still awaiting confirmation on this.
W. R. is bringing his snowshoes with him & I have 2 pair here for Donny & I to use. But more than likely, if anyone wants to hike into the interior of that wilderness, I will forfeit my snowshoes to Donny's boy. A much more suitable candidate for this than I! He's 11 years old now & an all-star hockey player. I'm 50 & a slow, fat hockey fan. I think I'll just build a fire, put the kettle on & enjoy the view for a bit before cooking us dinner out there.

I hope everyone likes fish. Donny has his own Trout Pond on his property & I know he has some in the freezer already. I am SO looking forward to this now. It's going to be a blast!

48 HOURS TO SAVE CANADIAN JOURNALISM

Prime Minister Harper and his media cronies are pressuring the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to weaken Canada's journalism standards. If successful, it could spell the end for fair and balanced media in Canada.
>
> The CRTC will close public comments at midnight on February 16. We don't have long to go. I've just signed a petition urging them to protect not weaken Canada's media standards -- you can sign here:
>
> http://www.avaaz.org/en/canada_fair_and_balanced/96.php

I just received this e-mail from my Ma. So I went over to this site & gave it a quick read, filled out the petition & then right back here to tell you about this.

God I hate this freekin' Goof, Stephen Harper! Read the message below as well.

Use the enclosed link or click the title banner & go sign this petition!

Dear friends across Canada,

In 48 hours, public protections against false news coverage could be destroyed. The CRTC may pass a huge loophole to the “fair and balanced” rule that currently prevents media from outright lying to the public.

Canada's broadcast journalism standards are an impediment to the new "Fox News North" (Sun TV) network being set up by Prime Minister Harper's cronies, which promises to mimic Fox News -- the poisonous US propaganda network. The CRTC rule change, which allows false news to be blasted across Canadian airwaves, comes just as SunTV is about to launch.

We can stop this -- last year, we stopped Harper cronies from pressing the CRTC to fund "Fox News North" with public money. Now, we have just two days to raise another national outcry to save the standards of Canadian journalism, and our democracy. Sign the petition below, and tell everyone:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/canada_fair_and_balanced97.php?cl_tta_sign=41405176d82c008b3b2a40c589aeb3ee

The proposed changes to regulations protecting Canadian airwaves would require any complaint to include proof that the broadcaster knew that the news was false AND that the lies spread could endanger the lives, health or safety of the public -- so a journalist could tell any lie they liked as long it didn't kill or sicken anyone. Proponents within the CRTC are claiming that this change is in reaction to a Supreme Court decision, but that ruling was made fifteen years ago and has almost nothing to do with TV news standards.

Television news is regulated by the CRTC precisely because news that spreads lies degrades public discourse and destroys the ability of Canadians to cast an informed vote. These kinds of lies may not directly threaten our lives or personal security, but they do threaten our country and our democracy.

Avaaz, along with hundreds of other media advocates, has already submitted a detailed legal argument explaining why the “fair and balanced” rule is necessary to protect Canadian democracy. A national call to keep the news honest will focus CRTC attention on the legitimate objections to their dangerous plan. Sign the petition and forward this email to everyone:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/canada_fair_and_balanced/97.php?cl_tta_sign=41405176d82c008b3b2a40c589aeb3ee

Just a few months ago, Canadians prevented government subsidies for "Fox News North" and helped expose the unethical conduct of its director Kory Teneycke, Prime Minister Harper's former Communications Director. Now Harper's cronies are back, and hacking at an essential pillar of our democracy, the standards that help prevent media from outright lying to the public. In the next two days we join a long tradition of Canadians who have built and sustained our democracy in the face of all kinds of threats. Let's do that tradition proud.

With hope,

Emma, Ricken, Laryn and the rest of the Avaaz team

Starting Our Garden at Home

We spent the entire morning in Lindsay today. The daughter had another doctor's appointment & will have to visit her doctor, every Tuesday from now on until her baby arrives. And then who knows what from there after?

So while I was awaiting her & her mom to be finished with that appointment, I did some "catch-up reading" because I had the fore-thought to bring my favorite magazine, "The Backwoodsman". Thank goodness!

I "LOVE" this magazine! And my subscription to it has finally begun to arrive bi-monthly. I think it does save me a little bit of money. But more importantly, I don't have to hope that it's not sold out from the only TWO stores in Lindsay which carry this magazine, before I get there to purchase one!

But this isn't what I had planned for my morning, exactly. Yesterday, I began work on our attic loft area grow room. The room is already set-up. I just need to make a few changes with how the lights are set-up & how they are hooked into the electrical system. They were "jury-rigged" into an octagon box which holds that areas only light socket. Now, I'm going to be installing a typical 110 volt receptacle where the old single light bulb socket is & then just installing the male counter parts onto the heavy-duty extension cord wiring I've butchered to act as the florescent fixtures wiring. This way, if I need to, I can remove the lights whenever needed. Just by un-plugging them. All I need now, are the plug ends themselves. While I was out this morning, I failed to remember this!

But I did happen across some vegetable seeds. We have one of Leighann's grand baby's here with us for the week. Her name is "Serenity Nicholson" & she's going to be 2 years old in March. What a cutie-pie! But she needed some clothes & some winter boots. The boots she did bring, aren't any good at all for the cold. And Leighann just has to buy her some clothes, anyways. That what women do!

So after waiting all morning at the doctors office, sitting in the car & reading, I now had to take them shopping. Will this day never end?

I dropped them at the local Lindsay Can't Save A Dime, where everything is made in China's slave market for pennies a pound & then sold to us for 1000% mark-up. But even at this percentage, it's still the cheapest place to shop!
And then I went over to Canadian Tire for gas. My thinking was, I would drop them off, they would run into the store, find everything they need, pay for it all & be waiting outside when I returned.
There's no, real explanation for, WHY I'm this gullible. It's just something I always do with these situations. I think I kinda', put myself in the situation. Like, this is how, I would do this. I would run into the store. I would find everything in one, quick, masterful swoop & then rush it all to the cashier.

Live & learn, eh?

So yeah. After parking out front with the motor running & sitting there expectantly for about 10 minutes, I decided I should go in & check on them. Maybe something happened? The store was being robbed & they were tied up to an aisle of socks & underwear. Somebody tripped over a shopping cart & broke an arm or, Heaven forbid, the daughter was laying pantless, in the middle of the frozen foods section, giving birth to Lindsay's newest welfare recipient (still a little bit of negativity there but I'm trying).

But this was not the case. After searching them out, I found them waiting in line to use the bathroom. Shopping cart, empty!

But. While searching them out, I happened across a display stand loaded with seeds!

So all is not lost! Everything happens for a reason, right? The girls needed to spend 20 minutes going pee & I needed vegetable seeds. And that's as good as it gets. I guess?

So here's the list of seeds so far:

    - Carrot -"Red Cored Chanteny"
    - Onion - "Sweet Spanish"
                 - "Silverskin Pickling"
    - Turnip - "Early Snowball"
                 - "Swede Laurentian"
    - Radish - "Early Scarlet Globe"
    - Beet - "Crosby's Egyptian"
    - Pepper - "Red Bell"
                  - "Early California Wonder"
    - Squash - "Buttercup"
    -Tomato - "Earlana"
    -Lettuce - "Cos or Romaine"
    - Broccoli - "Munchkin"
    - Cauliflower - "Early Snowball"
    - Corn - "Golden Bantam"
    - Bean - "Tendergreen (bush)"
    - Cucumber - "Early Mincu"
    - Asparagus - "Mary Washington"

These seed packages are for our garden at home. I want Heirloom quality seeds for when we begin gardening full time at the acreage. But I need to plan that investment out properly & do a lot more research into how to harvest the seeds from everything we grow. Because it is a big investment!

Heirloom quality seeds cost a lot of money. So. I need money first of all.
Second. I'm as new to gardening as being sober is to my liver! I should have at least, ONE more growing season under my belt before risking planting an Heirloom vegetable garden. For sure!
These seeds (Heirloom) are so important to me. I don't want to even waste ONE of them.

I pretty well have everything I need to get started now. I could use a few more seed starting trays though. So maybe next week, or this weekend even, I can get a few seeds started. After I read all of these packages & figure out which ones should be started this early that is!

Our Technical Reality Part 5 of 6

Part 5 of the "Our Technical Reality" video series deals with Meglev Trains first, & then artificial limbs later.

When I was a boy back in the early 70's, I remember my dad explaining to me his ideas for installing magnetic motors into each wheel of a car & then having a small internal combustion engine in the car someplace, to power up those magnets, making them stronger or weaker as required to operate the vehicle.

This stuff fascinated me, of course. He would doodle all of these things onto whatever piece of paper was in front of him & I remember spending a lot of time sitting with him as he described a lot of his drawings for me.
What a shame he never had access to the Internet when he was in his prime!

Alica Smith Speaks About The 100 Mile Diet

This is a 40 minute Google video with Alica Smith talking about her involvement with & then writing about, the book she co-authored with her partner, J.B. McKinnon, "The 100 Mile Diet: A Year Of Local Eating". In the U.S.A. the book is titled "Plenty".

I received a comment from "Wilderness Return", in my original post about the book I purchased, where he says;
"Hey there, here is a blog about the 100 mile diet, she lives in the London area, and on
her blog are a few links to other info on the 100 mile diet. Check out the site for Global
as well, they did a series on the 100 Mile Diet recently in BC cheers Ed"
             http://ontariolocavore.wordpress.com/

Thanks Ed!

Last night while laying in bed watching the tube, I started to channel surf for some reason. At around, ten minutes to what ever time it was, that I chose to do this surfing, I came across that 100 Mile show on Global. It just figures man. I get an e-mail about a show coming on that would be of interest to me & then find it on the TV that very night, 10 minutes before it ends. Life is like that with me. Oh well eh? It will be on again. Soon I hope!

I went over to the London woman's Blog listed above & bookmarked it for later. Hopefully, I will have some time later to read it, but it's to be a busy day for me here. I'm planning on setting up our loft area grow room & making it ready for starting seedlings again!

Yeah!!! It's that time once again. Finally! I can't believe, just how MUCH I've been looking forward to this. It's like having your birthday coming up in a day or two, back when you were a kid!
I don't have any heirloom quality seeds yet though. So this years crop will consist of vegetables grown from seed pack's you find anywhere, unfortunately.

Because of the huge investment required to buy these, heirloom quality seeds, I'm going to postpone it until our garden on 100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness, is all set-up for growing our own food. And that will not be until next year, 2012!

But this seasons garden in our backyard, is going to be a Doozy!

So far, I've decided on "Tomatoes, Potatoes, Onions, Peas, Green Beans, Lettuce, Carrots & Watermelon" to name just a few. Which variety of those listed & whatever else we plant, I've not yet decided upon. That decision, will depend on what I hear back from an old friend of ours who grows a huge kitchen garden, year after year. Since gardening is all, pretty much new to me, I'm going to him for this advice!

This also means, I'm going to require more raised beds. The earth in our backyard, isn't, really earth. It's about a half inch of top soil spread over hard-packed limestone shale. Thankfully, grass grows in this. Otherwise, it would look like a dirty, strip-mined quarry type covering!

So lumber for raised beds...I may even try a few old tires or something. Kinda like, container gardening. I'm going to need a lot of soil!
Perhaps we can get a single axle dump-truck load cheap enough. Or more. And "Chicken Wire" for crying out loud!
Last year, we lost ALL of our corn & even most of our watermelons, to Skunks or Raccoons or something. I don't want this years vegetables to be waisted like this again!

We already have, Wild Plums, Serviceberries & Crab Apples. So I will be looking into what I need to do for these trees & bushes in the spring, later on today, to achieve a better crop from them at harvest time. Last year, I made my own "Wild Plum Jam" for toast & a "Serviceberry Sauce" for meat dishes. I was ill prepared for doing so. Not having ANY preserving jars & NO KNOWLEDGE what-so-ever as to, HOW TO do this. But I DID do this, none the less. And they were delicious!

This year, will be better though. We purchased a couple of boxes each of 2 sizes of canning jars & lids, last autumn, after I figured out that we NEED to do this. Plus, a friend of Leighann's has sent us some used canning jars she no longer has use for. My basement here in town, is IDEAL as a cold cellar. But it too, needs a little work to be ready for food storage!

So just, "BRING IT ON MAN"! I'm itchin' to get growin'!

Our Technical Reality Part 4 of 6

Part 4 of the "Our Technical Reality" video series deals with automation & robotics. I've always been fascinated with both of these topics. Combining the two, only makes sense!

Bring Corrupt Governments To Justice

I wrote about Mr. Alex Weir in a previous post. He's the guy who has accumulated all of the information for his "cd3WD" disc set & then made it available to the entire world, free for the taking.

I've even devoted an entire page to this guy's "cd3WD" disc set, here in my Blog, last week sometime. The information he has made available for everyone, is as valuable here in North America, as it is in his African homeland!

The Capitalist, Steve Jobs, has been quoted as saying:
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. You can quote them. Disagree with them. Glorify or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do, is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do!”

Who knows. Maybe Weir's one of these "Genius Kook's". Maybe he isn't. Whatever the situation there, at least he's trying to make a change!

We may never see the likes of Bush swinging from a noose like he deserves. Just like they did with that man with a hood over his head & was suppose to be Saddam. But just maybe, our heirs down the road, will know the truth about these criminals!

I've just included two excerpts below here, from Weir's website. He has several, really good ideas, besides these two!

Use of International Court of Justice in the Hague for reparations for economic damage caused by colonially-installed irresponsible 3rd world regimes and dictatorships.

The West often illegally installs completely unsuitable dictators in 3rd world countries either by coup d'etat or by frauded election. Then either immediately or after some short or even long time, things go wrong, and the population suffers physically and/or economically because of the unsuitability of the dictator who cannot be removed, and who is still big buddies with his installers, or who may even have already fallen out with them. Idi Amin is just one such (extreme) example - he was incidentally installed secretly by the British Government. Surprise, surprise - Robert Mugabe is another!....

The problem is a dual one - first of all the Western Civil Servants, Intelligence operatives, and Politicians involved have no sense of honour, guilt or responsibility to the 3rd world nation concerned; and secondly their voters do not give a damn, and do not regard themselves as responsible for the actions and inaction's outside their own country of their elected representatives (unless they or their family or possibly fellow countrymen have to go to war). This is partly racism and partly ignorance, and is certainly fostered by the politicians themselves.

There are a few ways to counter this problem. One is terrorism by the affected population against the Western Government and their population and voters; the other is to institute legal action through the International Court of Justice in the Hague (ICJ) and similar bodies. This second option is much preferable since it is legal and since it hurts the voters in their pocket, something which even the most Xenophobic, ostrich-like and apolitical understand...

PS - I had this originally as the International Criminal Court - but their jurisdiction is only 2002 and later, therefore I am guessing that the ICJ is a better place for most of these kind of problems.....

Another Excerpt From Weir's Website

Democracy Promotion - Hit-man funds for elimination of internationally-designated dictators

As an extension of the IGEC concept, to cover countries which refuse to hold any elections at all and/or refuse to hold elections under the IGEC; countries are designated every 6 months or so to be:

- a democracy
- a dictatorship
- somewhere in between

For example a country which held an IGEC-run election may have slipped into dictatorship within 2-3 years after that election.

Any country which is designated a dictatorship will also have the dictator or dictators named on a list. And it will NOT be an offence under International Law for any individuals or organisations to collect funds for the physical elimination of the dictator(s). Similarly not illegal for a hit-man to perform the contract if and when issued. The mere existence of such a fund, whether complete or partial, should be enough to persuade the dictator in question to follow his or her money to its (usually Western) location and to leave his or her disgruntled subjects alone....

You can call this kind of solution a Privatisation of the work normally carried out by incompetent Western politicians, civil servants and intelligence services......

Our Technical Reality Part 3 of 6

Part 3 of the "Our Technical Reality" video series shows the "Reginadime" (not too sure about the spelling) wind capturing method & the "Bloombox" device, used for clean electrical production.

Our very own 100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness would be an ideal place for the wind system described here in this video. It is, from what I can see by looking around me, perhaps the highest land mass within 2000 to 3000 acres. So a set-up like this huge wind turbine could power the entire Kawarthas almost. Or all of the Haliburton's! Not that it's for sale for this reason. I'm just saying!

The "Bloombox" is something I'm just hearing about too. So I'm going to include it amongst the 1000 other things I want to know more about & research it on the web, eventually!
With me. Eventually can mean, "now or never"! But I do like the idea.

Clicking the banner title bar takes you to YouTubes website with all of the videos.

Our Technical Reality Part 2 of 6

Part 2 of the "Our Technical Reality" series shows a "way too cool" method for using the power of the ocean to run an electrical generator!

Unfortunately, our 100 Acres of Canadian Wilderness isn't anywhere near the ocean. Or I would consider building something like this, on a much smaller scale of course, to power our home there.

We don't even have access to a running stream. If we did, I would be working on a micro-hydro system for that place too!

The Burnt River does carry a lot of water, & quite fast too, but it is much too far & on another acreage. Perhaps around 500 yards away from the very southern most tip of our acreage.

I've worked on plans for installing a micro-hydro system into the hull of a small boat before & have them somewhere in one of my "notebooks of big ideas". This would be ideal for generating electricity!
All you would need to do is, anchor the boat in the water with the bow pointing into the current which it would do naturally with a V-hull design anyway's, and allow the moving water to turn whichever, impellor or propeller design you decide upon for turning you generator.

The generator can then charge up your battery bank however you like. My idea was to transport batteries, to & from the boat & our acreage as required, since we are not on the water front of this river system.
Yes. This would be, quite the chore! But it's just an idea for now. Another, "means" of generating our own electricity.

But for anyone, living on a river system, they could be generating hydro A.S.A.P. And be disconnected from those crooks at the Electrical Authority!

Told You So!

Below is a copy of the story from "The Guardian", taken from some more of those Wikileaks. This one descibes how there may not be as much oil as we are led to beleive there is.

The US fears that Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude oil exporter, may not have enough reserves to prevent oil prices escalating, confidential cables from its embassy in Riyadh show.
The cables, released by WikiLeaks, urge Washington to take seriously a warning from a senior Saudi government oil executive that the kingdom's crude oil reserves may have been overstated by as much as 300bn barrels – nearly 40%.
The revelation comes as the oil price has soared in recent weeks to more than $100 a barrel on global demand and tensions in the Middle East. Many analysts expect that the Saudis and their Opec cartel partners would pump more oil if rising prices threatened to choke off demand.
However, Sadad al-Husseini, a geologist and former head of exploration at the Saudi oil monopoly Aramco, met the US consul general in Riyadh in November 2007 and told the US diplomat that Aramco's 12.5m barrel-a-day capacity needed to keep a lid on prices could not be reached.
According to the cables, which date between 2007-09, Husseini said Saudi Arabia might reach an output of 12m barrels a day in 10 years but before then – possibly as early as 2012 – global oil production would have hit its highest point. This crunch point is known as "peak oil".
Husseini said that at that point Aramco would not be able to stop the rise of global oil prices because the Saudi energy industry had overstated its recoverable reserves to spur foreign investment. He argued that Aramco had badly underestimated the time needed to bring new oil on tap.
One cable said: "According to al-Husseini, the crux of the issue is twofold. First, it is possible that Saudi reserves are not as bountiful as sometimes described, and the timeline for their production not as unrestrained as Aramco and energy optimists would like to portray."
It went on: "In a presentation, Abdallah al-Saif, current Aramco senior vice-president for exploration, reported that Aramco has 716bn barrels of total reserves, of which 51% are recoverable, and that in 20 years Aramco will have 900bn barrels of reserves.
"Al-Husseini disagrees with this analysis, believing Aramco's reserves are overstated by as much as 300bn barrels. In his view once 50% of original proven reserves has been reached … a steady output in decline will ensue and no amount of effort will be able to stop it. He believes that what will result is a plateau in total output that will last approximately 15 years followed by decreasing output."
The US consul then told Washington: "While al-Husseini fundamentally contradicts the Aramco company line, he is no doomsday theorist. His pedigree, experience and outlook demand that his predictions be thoughtfully considered."
Seven months later, the US embassy in Riyadh went further in two more cables. "Our mission now questions how much the Saudis can now substantively influence the crude markets over the long term. Clearly they can drive prices up, but we question whether they any longer have the power to drive prices down for a prolonged period."
A fourth cable, in October 2009, claimed that escalating electricity demand by Saudi Arabia may further constrain Saudi oil exports. "Demand [for electricity] is expected to grow 10% a year over the next decade as a result of population and economic growth. As a result it will need to double its generation capacity to 68,000MW in 2018," it said.
It also reported major project delays and accidents as "evidence that the Saudi Aramco is having to run harder to stay in place – to replace the decline in existing production." While fears of premature "peak oil" and Saudi production problems had been expressed before, no US official has come close to saying this in public.
In the last two years, other senior energy analysts have backed Husseini. Fatih Birol, chief economist to the International Energy Agency, told the Guardian last year that conventional crude output could plateau in 2020, a development that was "not good news" for a world still heavily dependent on petroleum.
Jeremy Leggett, convenor of the UK Industry Taskforce on Peak Oil and Energy Security, said: "We are asleep at the wheel here: choosing to ignore a threat to the global economy that is quite as bad as the credit crunch, quite possibly worse."

Our Technical Reality Part 1 of 6

This is the first video of a six-part series I will be posting here. I will do my best to make certain that all parts of this series, are posted one day after the other, but who knows? I might miss a day. If this does happen, then I will do my very best to have it up the next day!

"Our Technical Reality" was produced in co-operation with "The Venus Project" & "The Zeitgeist Movement". Two movements which I feel strongly about!

Each one of these videos is under 10 minutes in length. I've decided to post them this way, instead of all at once, so that most people will watch them. Sometimes, we don't have the full hour, or full 2 hours required to watch these videos in their entirety.

Part One, introduces a type of PV solar energy capturing device I had not heard of previously. And is it ever cool. Wait till you see this!

By clicking the title banner, you will be redirected to YouTube's website where, if you like, you can watch all of this series right away!
