OWNING ACREAGE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY DREAM -

ESPECIALLY WILDERNESS ACREAGE!

FOR AS LONG AS I CAN RECALL

I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF THE WILDERNESS

AS MY SALVATION.

THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REASONS FOR THIS.

SOME OF THEM JUVENILE

SOME OF THEM MORE EDUCATED

BUT ALWAYS

IT WOULD BE THE WILDERNESS

WHICH WOULD SAVE ME!

THE PERFECT STORM?
We didn't get near the amount of snow fall predicted by our weather network, but I don't think it's all over with, just yet. This day may see a lot more snow coming our way!

Yesterday, I started back at that renovation job up in Buckhorn. The home owner had an unfortunate accident in her own driveway & ended up wrecking her back, so she didn't want us back there while she was in so much discomfort. I don't blame her. I've never "wrecked" my back before, but I have had torn muscles in it & I know the predicament it places a person in.

We, A.B. & myself, have until the 4th of March to complete the last of this renovation job, then the homeowner is off to the big smoke (Toronto), for medical purposes. We don't have to complete ALL of the work though, just the inside stuff. Whatever is left outside, with the roof & siding, soffits & fascia's, can be done at our discretion. We just have to make certain that nothing inside is left, un-finished.

Ole' crusty-nuts, BJ, is now in the Ross Memorial hospital in Lindsay & has been so since last Tuesday. Sasquatch Larry & Al, had to have an ambulance take him away. Too bad. The old prick could have enjoyed his last remaining time here on this planet, from the comfort of his dump couch in his dump wreck room area, if he just would of kept up with the eating instead of refusing everything that was put in front of him.

And just as I knew it would happen, the E.M.S. (Earn Money Sleeping) guys, were looking at the Sasquatch all funny like & stared inquiring about abuse. More questions had to be answered in the hospital as well, the emergency staff were ALL looking at my friends like they were some kind of criminals & not looking after this ole' pricks best interest.

I knew this was going to happen & I did voice my concerns to these guys about it. But every ones so afraid of the wrath of ole' crusty nuts that they refuse to not do as he bitches orders, for some reason. He hollers & they jump. I really wish that you all had the opportunity to have met this guy, BJ. You would have left his basement wondering; "Why hasn't anyone ever murdered this SOB yet?!?!"

Anyways, he's now in the hospital & being fed by a tube. It took the staff there, all of a minute or less to figure him out & that the Sasquatch & everyone else involved, love the SOB & were only doing as he commands. A.B. & Al, are driving down there again today, sometime, to visit with him. He doesn't go a day without at least one of us stopping in to bring him his daily copy of the Toronto Sun newspaper, his weekly lotto tickets & whatever else he demands he have while in there.

We've been through it all before, all of us, several times before in the past. Exactly one year ago last week, he fell off his roof trying to change a light bulb & busted his femur bone right in half. It was just by luck that A.B. stopped by & found him before he bled out.

BJ spent weeks in the hospital down in Peterborough, where everyone had to take turns doing the same damn thing, bringing him this & bringing him that. And ALL of it, stupid shit, like a cordless drill, duct tape, a bag full of rags & 14 feet of nylon rope. These were all "genuine items" that he expected in there, the last time. He wanted to modify the table that they used to feed him with, hang a cooler out the window, etc, etc...

When the hospital finally (kicked him out) released him, Larry & A.B. took him a package of brand new underwear that they found in his sock drawer. The package contained 3 pair of tidy whiteys that had never been opened & still had the original price tag of $2.99 on it. BJ, flipped his freekin' lid & blew out ALL of his gaskets when he discovered that they had opened the package while helping him to get dressed to leave. "The underwear I have are perfectly fine" he yelled at them. Neither one of these guys would even pick up his old underwear with a stick & several coatings of alcohol hand wash because the garmitt was so, old, torn & striped with who knows what. But. that's just BJ... & he helps to add, color? to our otherwise, dull & bland, normal life.

" Bread making with Leighann"
So, because of the weather, I will be staying at home today. I will go to work tomorrow, as long as the roads are all good but I do think we will be getting more snow, this afternoon.

While at home, my new, favorite thing to do, has become bread making. And Leighann has really taken to it as well. She will now, nudge me right out of the way to take over & I don't blame her. I do stuff like, only use 1/3 the amount of yeast or only half the amount of salt or sugar, that she uses. It's all an " experimental" process, thing-a-ma-jig, for me.

I enjoy trying different methods while baking bread & I find I can achieve different densities of the loaves, by screwing around this way. Sometimes, I enjoy a heavier bread with a thicker interior. Other times, like for brown breads, I'll make it fluffier inside with lots of " air pockets" for holding extra peanut butter!

And that's what we'll be doing today, preparing more bread dough. Leighann can bake it up tomorrow sometime while I'm in Buckhorn & then I'll have a nice treat to come home to!

Later on this afternoon, sometime, I'm heading up to my grow-room loft & getting it all ready for some planting. I've decided that I am going to start some tomato's right away, using the container garden method & then just transfer the entire container, plant & all, out to the back deck around early June sometime, instead of transplanting them into my raised beds.

I won't be doing ALL of my tomato's this way. Some of them will be transplanted seedlings & some will be container grown. But I am going to start some, ASAP & perhaps even have an early crop of them to start making up some salads, sandwiches, sauces, etc... Home grown organic heirloom tomato's on home baked breads........Oh yeah!

And if you're really bored & you really don't have anything else to do, anything at all, like, clipping your toe nails or poking yourself in the eye, click the title of today's Blog post!
